SUMMARY:CANCELED: Visible Mending Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Give your well-loved clothing a creative new life! In this h
ands-on workshop\, Robin Mazzola\, Costume Shop Manager and Adjunct Pro
fessor of Theater at Wesleyan University\, will guide you through techni
ques for strengthening\, decorating\, and restoring your garments or to
te bags using visible mending.\nThis workshop is a great way to embrace
slow fashion and sustainability\, helping you extend the life of your
favorite items while learning practical textile skills. Open to both beg
inner and experienced crafters\, you’ll explore embroidery and patchin
g techniques that make your repairs both functional and beautiful.\n\n\n
What You’ll Learn:\n\n How to use needles\, stitches\, and patches to
repair holes\, worn areas\, or threadbare spots.\n Techniques for crea
ting decorative mends that enhance your items.\n Tips to continue vis
ible mending at home.\n\nMaterials &amp\; Tools:\n\n All materials are
 supplied\, including needles\, fabric scraps\, embroidery floss\, embroi
 dery hoops\, scissors\, pins\, and fabric marking tools.\n Participants
are welcome to bring their own scissors\, needles\, threads\, and fabri
c scraps if they prefer.\n Helpful items for detailed work: a neck ligh
t\, headlamp\, or small magnifying light.\n Please bring at least one
garment in need of repair to work on during class. The repair should be
a hole\, a small stain\, or warn spot and not any major repairs like a
broken zipper.\n\nGarment Guidelines:\n\n Best results: natural fibers
like cotton\, wool\, or linen.\n Synthetics or blends can work\, but ac
tivewear or performance fabrics (like waterproof coats\, spandex\, or ly
cra leggings) are not recommended.\n Questions about suitability? Email
hello@milfordmakes.org before class.\n\nAttendance is capped at 14 pa
 rticipants for hands-on guidance.\nBring your garment\, your curiosity\,
and your creativity! Leave the workshop with revitalized items\, new s
kills\, and inspiration to continue mending at home.\n-----\n\nCancellat

our registration\, please contact us at least 7 days before the workshop
