A personal note from Liz about the inspiration behind our October retreat.
As someone who loves to make things, I’ve often found myself wishing for uninterrupted time to simply create. Not time squeezed in between errands or at the end of a long day, but time set aside with intention—time to slow down, reconnect with my creativity, and enjoy being in the company of other makers.
That simple idea became the inspiration for creating Cultivate & Create: A Restorative Retreat for Makers.
As I began planning the retreat, I kept coming back to one question:
What would a truly restorative day for makers look like?
The answer wasn’t a packed schedule or a long list of activities. It was a day that felt thoughtful, unhurried, and welcoming.
A beautiful setting.
Nourishing meals.
Time to make.
Time to breathe.
Time to connect with other creative people who understand the joy of creating simply because they love it.
Every part of the retreat has been chosen with that feeling in mind—from the workshops and tea ritual to the open studio time, gentle movement, and opportunities to simply pause and enjoy the day.
My hope isn’t that you leave with a finished project.
My hope is that you leave feeling rested, inspired, and reminded why creativity matters in the first place.
Whether you knit, quilt, crochet, journal, paint, scrapbook, sew, or enjoy any other creative hobby, I hope you’ll find a place for yourself here.
The Milford Makes Board has been working hard to bring this retreat to life, and I truly can’t wait to welcome everyone in October.
I’m also incredibly grateful to The Milford Bank, whose generous support as our Presenting Sponsor has helped make this inaugural retreat possible.
I hope you’ll join us.
Warmly,

Vice President
